Hello! We hope you all are enjoying summer, it's hard to believe it's almost over (shhh). We refuse to accept it!
Nolan had a rough start to summer, experiencing something called somnolence which can occur following radiation. It mostly involves extreme fatigue. We have done our best to combat it with steriods and as much rest as possible. Nolan, the warrior he is, has been pushing to attend camp and get glimpses of as much of a normal summer as possible. He continues to amaze us with his ability to take everything which comes his way in stride.
We were lucky to receive some good news earlier this month that the radiation did decrease the size of his tumors in the brain and spine. This was a relief to hear.
This summer we have received continued outpouring of support from our family, friends and community. We cannot express enough gratitude from the support we have received, we will be forever grateful!
I chose this tender picture Brian captured of Nolan and Harry after Nolan picked Harry up from his camp because 1) it is a very sweet picture but 2) it is hard to see Nolan not his usual self these days. It is very hard to not see his beautiful smile (taken from him by one of the tumor's causing facial weakness). We know the spirit that lives beneath that smile is there and shining through when it can.
We hope to finish the summer out with a trip that the boys do not yet know about, in case we need to postpone, and then prepare Nolan to enter middle school (!!!) and Harry third grade.
If you are able to, please consider joining our team for the annual CHOP parkway run and walk, Sunday, September 27th!
Thank you again for all of your love and support! Enjoy the rest of summer !
